Intuitive Philosophy & Story-telling during practice
Yin yoga is a form of yoga that involves holding passive poses for extended periods of time, typically three to five minutes. This slow and gentle practice targets the deep connective tissues of the body, such as the ligaments, tendons, and fascia, helping to increase flexibility and improve joint mobility. The long holds in yin yoga also allow for a deep stretching of the muscles, helping to release tension and reduce stiffness. Additionally, the practice of yin yoga can help to improve circulation and energy flow throughout the body, leading to better overall health and vitality.
On an emotional level, yin yoga promotes a sense of calm and relaxation. The slow and meditative nature of the practice gives practitioners the opportunity to tune into their breath and connect with their inner thoughts and feelings. This mindfulness practice can help to reduce stress and anxiety, as well as improve mental clarity and focus. The deep stretching and release of tension in the body can also have a grounding effect, helping to create a sense of balance and well-being. Overall, the physical and emotional benefits of yin yoga make it a valuable practice for promoting both physical health and mental wellness.
Yin yoga is deeply rooted in Chinese medicine principles, as it focuses on targeting the body's meridian lines and stimulating the flow of qi, or life force energy. The practice of holding poses for an extended period of time allows for deep stretching of the connective tissues and promoting better circulation of blood and energy throughout the body. By targeting specific meridians, yin yoga can help to balance the body's energy and promote overall health and well-being. The emphasis on surrendering and releasing tension in yin yoga also aligns with the Chinese medicine concept of yin and yang, seeking to find balance and harmony within the body and mind.

Your Instructor: Nikki Rae Bose
Nikki Rae Bose is the creative mind behind reUnify Yoga. Originally from Chicago, she moved to SD 15 years ago, fell in love with one of her greatest teachers through the magic of surfing-- the Ocean-- and committed to creating a life here.
She has over 500 hours of training, with thousands of hours of teaching experience. She's been teaching asana since 2012, pranayama since 2017, and leading yoga teacher trainings that have a strong focus on philosophy, breathwork and authentic voice expression, since 2019.
She has this earth and ocean mama vibe out her— a deep raspy voice that connects everyone to their roots but a playful energetic pulse that ebbs and flows between crack-your-heart-open philosophy and cracking jokes. Being a new mom, she has a way of holding a maternal container that gives you the space to explore your own inner happenings (however emotional or neutral), and permission to follow what your body needs.
What can you expect from her classes? Feeling like we're all in this together, a reminder that life is some sort of cosmic giggle to learn a little something from, and an opportunity to integrate traditional yoga philosophy with & through physical movement.
