Pranayama Apprenticeship

deepen your relationship to breath

Ancient yogic breathing techniques, known as Pranayama, have been integral to yoga practice for thousands of years. Originating in ancient India, these techniques were developed by sages and yogis to harness and control "prana," the life force, through intentional breath control. Rooted in the spiritual teachings of the Vedas and Upanishads, Pranayama serves not only to enhance physical well-being but also to elevate consciousness. The benefits of Pranayama are extensive, including increased mental clarity, reduced stress, improved respiratory function, and heightened vitality. By harmonizing the body's energy systems, these practices offer enduring physical and spiritual benefits. To truly immerse yourself in these transformative techniques, join our Pranayama apprenticeship led by Nikki Rae Bose, who carries the wisdom passed down from her teachers in India, ensuring an authentic and deep learning experience.

This Pranayama apprenticeship series has two main focuses:

1) To truly deepen your level of comfort in practicing both beginner and advanced pranayama techniques, perfecting your method and creating consistency, with instructor supervision

2) From that experience, cultivate an ability to confidently guide others to do the same

THIS APPRENTICESHIP WILL TEACH YOU..

  • A strong foundation of diaphragmatic breathing

  • A knowledge of and developed experience with over 10 pranayama techniques, with the supervision of an experienced teacher

  • How to integrate heightened states that arise alongside a prolonged pranayam practice

  • The linguistics of teaching others the basics of breath, as well as advanced practice.

  • An ability to hold space for others as different states come up as an aftermath of breathwork

  • The practice of regularly utilizing pranayama to bring clarity to the mind , understand the felt mechanisms of the nervous system , and ease a transition into meditation

Nikki Bose created this extended program with the understanding that it takes time and practice to truly learn these different ways of controlling and extending the breath. This 4 month container offers space between lessons to cultivate a personal practice, with consistent check-ins on how that development is going.

It also offers plenty of opportunity to witness others in their pranayama practice which can assist in your development as a teacher, but also in understanding your own breath, since we are ultimately all reflections of one another.

Why 6 am for our in-person sessions? That's when pranayam is traditionally supposed to be done! Traditionally, the ideal times to practice pranayama are during the early morning hours, known as Brahma Muhurta, or just before sunrise, when the environment is serene and the mind is naturally calm. Practicing at these times enhances the effectiveness of pranayama, as the body and mind are more receptive to the subtle energies that pranayama cultivates.

THIS program IS FOR you if you’re looking to…

Develop a strong pranayama practice

Strengthen your ability to teach traditional pranayam

Receive instructor supervision for some of the heightened states that arise with extended pranayama practice
